EVENINGS IN DECEMBER AT THE CHERRY Tells Worth Telling

The Cherry Center rolls out its December theater calendar with a wide-ranging array of programming that closes-out the year with Edgar Allen Poe, Dylan Thomas and a “Christmas Horror Mini Marathon.”

Directed by Rider McDowell, the series includes ‘Pieces of Poe: An evening with Edgar Allen Poe.‘ Starring Robert Colter, Errol McDowell, et al. Readings of some of the short works of America’s master of the macabre, and the creator of the modern tortured literary genius whose words still resonate. Not for the squeamish! Proceeds to benefit Canceragogo.com. Friday and Saturday, December 2nd and 3rd at 7 p.m. $15.00.

Under Milk Wood‘ Dylan’s Thomas masterpiece about life in a fictional Welsh fishing village. A digitally remastered audio performance by Welsh actor Richard Burton (yes, the Richard Burton). Directed by Rider McDowell. Proceeds to benefit Canceragogo.com. Friday Dec 9th, 7-9 p.m. $15.00

An Evening With Sylvia Plath.’ Poems from Ms. Plath’s collection ‘The Colossus and other poems,’ read by local women luminaries. Sylvia Plath, often called the mother of confessional poetry, is regarded by many as one of America’s great modern poets. Haunting and honest, her work is even more popular today, 53 years since her suicide at aged 30. Directed by Rider McDowell. Proceeds to benefit Canceragogo.com. Saturday Dec 10th, 7-9 p.m. $15.00

First Annual Christmas Horror Mini Marathon.‘ What screams Christmas more than these over-the-top low budget Christmas horror movies? What they lack in story and special effects, they make up for in bad acting and worse directing; which is exactly why we like them!
