Artist’s Statement
“I’m an analytical person who likes to dissect and examine relationships and things. My art history background reinforces this way of thinking and being. I like to layer and delve into the strata and meaning of each layer. Each part has a unique and important story to tell integral to the success of the whole; a homeostasis of sorts where each faction plays its part very much involved and dependent on the other parts.
My work is more about juxtaposing reality with illusion, turning ordinary objects and forms into implied and obscured subject matter. I am most recently influenced by the current world pandemic and it’s limiting of our lives and movement.
Time has been my friend and refuge. I have begun this new body of work with that in mind, thinking of the smallness of things as well as the larger picture and ultimately the marriage of the 2.”
