Photographer’s Statement: Randy Tunnell
“I have created a photographic portrait series of Carmel fine art painters. The series is titled ‘Carmel Bohemian Painters.’ The study celebrates local working artists who carry on the legacy of the Carmel Bohemian art culture. It is an homage to both the artists and the art colony of Carmel by the Sea. The collection of photographs will be the graphic record of Carmel artists from this time period and be a historic narrative of the creatives that helped to build the town over a hundred years ago.
After the Carl Cherry exhibit ends, the prints of the artists will be assembled as an open-air, pop-up gallery display. The display will be free to the public at Devendorf Park, to be shown on Saturday, October 8th, 2022. The outdoor gallery in the park will be the centerpiece for Meet the Makers (a wine and art celebration), Carmel Art Walk and the 95th anniversary of the Carmel Art Association. Guests will view large scale photographs of the artists as they embark on walking tours to the galleries of the very artists!”
