Mattias Thedens stands as one of Norway’s emerging talents on the Hardanger Fiddle, Norway’s national instrument. Raised in a musical family, Mattias immersed himself in the world of folk festivals from a young age. He successfully completed his Bachelor of Arts in Hardanger Fiddle performance at the esteemed Norwegian Academy of Music, benefiting from the guidance of distinguished mentors such as Knut Buen and Håkon Høgemo.
In 2023, Mattias won the National competition, Landskappleiken, in Hardanger fiddle class B, and was promoted to the elite A class where he is currently one of its youngest competitors. He is dedicated to keeping the Hardanger fiddle tradition alive, exploring different regional styles and techniques while making sure the music always stays true to its roots.
