SUMMARY:EXHIBIT: Collage: New Directions
DESCRIPTION:  \nCollage: New Directions\, opens Friday\, July 24th at the Cherry Center. Artists in this multi-media exhibit include: \nTracey Adams ♦ Michelle Avery ♦ Miriam Hitchcock ♦ Lisa Hochstein ♦ Susan Hyde Greene ♦ Claire Lerner ♦ Will Marino ♦  Grace Munakata  ♦ Vivienne Riggio ♦  Robynn Smith ♦ Mitzi Trachtenberg ♦ Vanessa Woods \nThe exhibit can be seen Monday through Friday\, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.\, or by appointment through September 28\, 2015. \nA reception for the artists will be held Friday\, July 24th\, from 5 to 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. \nSpanning a range of materials and mediums\, the breadth of the Cherry exhibition documents how collage’s use of bits and pieces of applied materials is unique in its ability to capture physical moments of time: the created or found materials of the Central Coast of California\, its pigments and fonts and ephemera. Collage has the ability to bring a tactile\, physical experience of human history into the reality-presence of the viewer.

SUMMARY:OLLI Film Series: Adaptation (Part 2) - Short Story to Feature FIlm
DESCRIPTION:Thursdays\, September 3\, 10\, 17\, 24; October 8\, 15 (6 sessions)\n3:00 pm – 6:00 pm\nCarl Cherry Center for the Arts\, Carmel\n$60 \nThis series follows last spring’s popular presentation of feature films which came to life from their origins as short stories. Join us for an in-depth examination of six compelling marriages of story and film across a broad spectrum of genres\, thematically linked with questions of illusion\, reality\, imagination and point of view. In addition to the analysis of the films\, we will explore the adaptation from print to screen and the connectedness between the two. To enhance our comparison\, we will also read the stories before viewing the films. \nFacilitator\nMalcolm Weintraub\, Carmel resident and inveterate cineaste\, is a devotee of film studies paying special attention to cinema thematics. His popular series include the first part of “Adaption – Short Story to Feature Film\,” “Moviews on Moveiws\,” “Satirical Anti-War Cinema\,” and more. \nMore info including online registration
