SUMMARY:2025 Thinking Out Loud Regional Art Competition
DESCRIPTION:The Carl Cherry Center for the Arts is proud to announce Thinking Out Loud 2025\, a regional art competition that challenges high school students to create works inspired by their lives. Each year\, students from across Monterey County are invited to display their artwork across a wide range of media for exhibition in our gallery. \nThinking Out Loud will open with a reception for the student artists on Saturday\, March 1st\, from 2-4pm. The event is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Wednesday through  Saturday from noon to 4 pm or by appointment. The exhibit will close Saturday\, March 22nd. \n\nEstablished in 1948\, the mission of the Carl Cherry Center for the Arts is to enhance the quality and diversity of artistic\, educational and cultural programs in Monterey County by encouraging public programs and interactions between artists and the community. \nThinking Out Loud is made possible\, in part\, through a grant from the Arts Council for Monterey County\, Monterey County Board of Supervisors\, and funds from: \nCarmel Woman’s Club\nCarmel-by-the-Sea Rotary\nCommunity Foundation for Monterey County\nDion and Judith Dow\nGibson Family Foundation\nMitchell Family Charitable Fund\nPebble Beach Company Foundation\nYellow Brick Road Benefit Store \n \n\nPictured: “Cereal” – 3D artwork by Sawyer Vogel\, Santa Catalina School\nFirst Place\, 2024 Thinking Out Loud Art Competition

SUMMARY:Soapbox Stageworks Presents: Winter One Acts
DESCRIPTION:Soapbox Stageworks Presents Winter One Acts\, four brand new plays performed on four different nights:\nThursday\, March 20th\, Friday\, March 21\, and Saturday\, March 22 and 29. The house opens at 6:30 for pre-show libations. Performances start at 7pm. Tickets are\, $35\, available on Eventbrite.com. 10% of all proceeds will go to the Carmel Youth Center \nEach performance will feature the following plays: \n“Ruby” by Donald Luftus –  An afternoon on the Thames River takes a turn. \n“Forward Pass” by Lawson Caldwell – It’s 1969 after the Stonewall riots in NYC. Two mothers in a small southern town must defend their sons. \n“Lenny and Jenny” by Mike Byham –  An intense situation makes two people realize things aren’t always as they seem. Trigger alert for language and violence. \n“A Winter’s Eve” by Karen Devaney – During a snowstorm in a small cabin\, a couple attempt to get their marriage back on track. The secrets revealed may destroy them for good.
