SUMMARY:Learning Curve: Threads of Influence
DESCRIPTION:Learning Curve: Threads of Influence is a group exhibition exploring the revered “arch of inspiration” that exists between teacher and student\, mentor and mentee\, sensei and seito. An opening reception will be held Friday\, April 3rd\, from 5-7pm. A panel discussion with selected artists will be held Sunday\, April 12th\, from 2-3:30pm. Both events are free and open to the public. \nTimed to coincide with the region’s PhotoCarmel celebration\, Learning Curve honors the mutually enriching relationship between mentor and student. Mentors open doors\, offering respect\, guidance\, and creative license while the student is allowed to evolve\, discover\, and pursue their fresh\, personal vision. This tradition of reciprocal exchange may occur in or out of academia and explores how generational creativity is shared\, transformed\, and renewed. \nTbe exhibit is curated by Richard Murai\, featuring works by the following photographers (bold) and their mentors and/or students: \n\n Edna Bullock\, Wynn Bullock\, Henry Gilpin\nYon Sim\, Ann Jastrab\, Katharine Kreisher\nDon Gregorio Antón\, Vivianna Curiel Flores\, Greg Mettler \nKevin Levesque\, Richard Murai\, Kimberly Sullivan\nAnsel Adams\, Manuello Paganelli \nPaul Caponigro\, William Giles\, Kenneth Parker\, Eliot Porter\nBrian Taylor\, Lesha Rodriguez \nVicki Nakamura\, Robynn Smith\, Stan Welsh\nBinh Dahn\, Shelby Graham\, Brian Taylor\nNikki Green\, Chanell Stone\, Lewis Watts \n\nPictured (left to right): Paul Caponigro\, Kimberly Sullivan\, Ann Jastrab
