 The Red Oak Duo, featuring Storm Nilson (guitar) and Adam Benjamin (piano), will perform Sunday, October 1st, at the Carl Cherry Center for the Arts,  Carmel. The duo will debut music from their newly-released second full-length album,”Seven American Monuments” (Orenda Records). Their music captures the aesthetic of rural America in a rich palette of acoustic, electric and electronic sounds.

About the duo:

Storm Nilson has recorded, taught, and played music throughout the US and Canada for the past thirteen years. He performed with some of the world’s top jazz musicians, including Wynton Marsalis, Charlie Haden, Steve Cardenas, and  longtime friend and mentor Bruce Forman. Nilson was guest artist and traveling clinician for the Monterey Jazz Festival and JazzMasters Workshops, and has toured extensively on both coasts and all points in between.

Adam Benjamin is a Grammy-nominated and critically acclaimed pianist, keyboardist, composer and educator based in Reno, Nevada. Recognized as a “Rising Star in Jazz” by DownBeat Magazine’s critics poll and readers poll for eight years running, Benjamin’s unmistakable sound crosses stylistic boundaries and challenges traditional notions of jazz.
